What is QuiltCon?

Everyone's Talking about QUILTCON and Solids!

QuiltCon?  Huh?  The Modern Quilt Guild has announced a conference chock full of great teachers like Denyse Schmidt, Malka Dubrawsky, and Anna Maria Horner just to name a few.  In addition to that, there's going to be a fabulous marketplace and a quilt show.  It will take place in Austin, Texas next February 21-24, 2013.

Just to add to all of this wonderfulness, The Modern Quilt Guild is also holding the QuiltCon Block Challenge.  "Your challenge is to use the colors of the QuiltCon logo to make a quilt block that reflects what modern quilting means to you.  We encourage you to stretch yourself and plan an interesting composition that represents your own unique voice."  The fabrics don't necessarily have to be solids, so use your imagination!  We'd love to feature your entries on our blog as well, so before you send them in take some pictures and shoot us an email!

Here's a dose of inspiration for you from our very own Amy at Amy a la Mode Quilts.  Below you'll find 3 of her personal designs, "Popsicle Dreams", "The Zens Won't Mind", and "Greek to Me".  All of these quilts use Kona cotton solid fabrics.
