The book version is great, and here's the one that Laura made for the shop. Isn't it darling?
This throw pillow cover is made from scraps of fabric in four different color palettes - reds, yellows, blues, and greens. You don't need very big pieces of any fabric, so it's really great for using up all kinds of scraps!
The pillow is made in the easy and practical envelope style, so there aren't any fancy closures and you can take the pillow cover off at any time to swap it out or wash it. Laura put this super cute sewing machine fabric on the back side of ours, but you could even use two different larger pieces of scraps for this and make it fully from your scrap bin!
There are loads of ways you could quilt this project, especially since it's so small. Laura chose to do stitch-in-the-ditch quilting (and very expertly, as you can see!), with some great diagonals out to the four corners.
Susan will be joining us at Bobbin's Nest Studio for a book signing and quilting event on Thursday, May 19 from 5-8pm. We'll have free log cabin kits for attendees (while supplies last!) and sewing machines set up for you to try your hand at making a log cabin block. Susan is excited to meet everyone and share her love of log cabin quilting, so plan to stop by for a few refreshments and to make your own block! Full details in our previous blog post.
