Thought for the day

We have said it time and time again, but there really is something so much more personal by conveying an idea, an emotion, or a thought through a handmade item. Sure you could go buy a machine knit baby sweater or a hat crafted in China to give at a shower, but there is something so intrinsic to the crafter about making it yourself. I come back to this realization time and time again as I go though my daily life of running a crafty store and seeing the amazing things that people turn out on a regular basis. Taking the time to make something that didn't exist before is what our world is based on. Not just the craft world, the world at large. We are inventors, innovators, and creators, not just knitters and seamsters. By taking the time to make something, whether for yourself or for a loved one (and the people who receive such gifts really are loved aren't they?) you are in fact, loving your world. You are using your time on this planet for something much greater then just knitting or sewing, you are making a contribution.

Either this or I am just trying to justify crafting more...
